My Name is an Irony

Anawangin

(Disclaimer: I wasn’t able to bring a camera when we were in Anawangin… so most of the pictures were taken by Mike, Jen and Ate Ping. I just took some using their cameras.)

So we finally went to Anawangin after months of waiting and planning. The weather was scary… but fortunately, we made it without any untoward incident whatsoever.

2009 JJ Summer Outing

anawangin-2009-_-view-_-47

Anawangin Cove is breathtaking. The pine trees, the sand, the waves, the lagoon, and the mountain view…

Our summer adventure this year is cheap but the experience is priceless. There’s 9 of us and each of us just spent 2k each. We spent 3 days and 2 nights without the convenience of beds, cellphones, even mirrors, etc … Pretty tough if you think about it but that was just the much needed relaxation we all look forward to every year.

We rented an L300 Van to pick us up in QC to Pundaquit Friday morning. We waited for this same van to bring us back to QC Sunday evening. Our bangkeros were Mang Waldo and Kuya Joseph…

One of the things you need to remember if you’re going to Anawangin is to bring your own tent. Some people thought that there’s a place in here where you can rent a tent, but that’s not true. There are shower rooms and you won’t worry about “fresh” water (from the water pump/deep well) but it would be best to bring mineral drinking water. It’s also wise to “waterproof” everything. Flashlights are needed – the cove is totally in the dark at night.

There’s also a lagoon located amazingly in between the mountain and the beachfront. It’s shallow but slippery… we spotted groups of photographers who were crossing the lagoon… I can’t blame them… I’m sure the view on the other side is spectacular…

It was Saturday, our second day in the cove when we went to Capones Island.

Capones Island is some 30 minutes boat ride away from Anawangin cove. Ask your “bangkero” to drop you off the shore closest to the lighthouse to spare you 30 minutes of trekking. While trekking, I saw a lot of “one-piece” slippers (hehe). My friend Jen was wearing a havaianas but it was quite a challenge. So just make sure you wear appropriate footwear.

I can’t exactly tell how old the lighthouse is but from what I’ve seen, my guess it’s as old as the early Spanish era.
